Honey is a naturally occurring substance produced mainly by honey bees. It can be obtained from the nectar of flowers. It is a highly nutritious substance. Honey has been in use for the treatment of various ailments for thousands of years. It was only in recent times that we have come to know about the scientific explanation of its antiseptic properties. The water molecules present in honey are so closely bonded with the sugar molecules that hardly a few of them are available for the microbes. In such an unfavorable condition, microbes fail to grow and survive.
Cinnamon, on the other hand, is obtained from the bark of a small evergreen tree found mostly in Sri Lanka. It has an aromatic essential oil that possesses amazing antimicrobial properties. Moreover, cinnamon is a good antioxidant. Research studies have shown that when these two substances combine together, they serve as excellent natural medicines.

Honey combined with cinnamon lowers cholesterol levels in blood and thus reduces the risk of heart attacks to a great extent. Include them in your breakfast. Use a paste of honey and cinnamon on your bread instead of any jam, butter, etc. Those who have past medical history of heart attack should take this mixture on a daily basis to improve their heart condition. It makes their veins and arteries healthy and flexible, improves their heartbeat and provides relief from loss of breath.
Skin Problems
There are various types of skin disorders that can be treated with the help of honey and cinnamon. A paste of equal amounts of cinnamon and honey can be safely applied on skin rashes caused due to ringworm infection, eczema, etc. To treat an insect bite, you have to use them differently. Dilute one teaspoon of honey with two teaspoons of water and then add a teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Massage this paste gently on the affected area and you will get relief from the pain and itchiness almost instantly. These two can be used for acne cure. Prepare a paste with 3 tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of grounded cinnamon and apply it on acne before bedtime. Keep it overnight and wash it off next morning. It will bring down the skin inflammation and reduce the size of the acne.

In a cup of hot water, add two teaspoonful of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder and mix them well. This mixture should be taken by arthritis patients on a regular basis to get relief from persistent joint pain. It has been observed that those who were unable to walk due to joint pain and swelling have started moving around without any difficulty, after the consumption of this mixture for just one month.
Honey is rich in valuable nutrients, like iron and vitamins that enable the white blood cells to fight various types of bacteria and viruses that can cause diseases. For best effects, take one teaspoon of honey to which a pinch of cinnamon powder has been added everyday.

Prepare a tea by boiling a cup of water with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder and then add one teaspoonful of honey to it. You should not boil the honey as heat can destroy the essential qualities of honey. Drink this tea twice a day: once in the morning, half an hour before breakfast on an empty stomach and once at night before going to bed. If this routine is maintained, it will not only reduce weight but also prevent accumulation of fat in the body.
Sore Throat
Honey, along with cinnamon can come to your rescue when you have a sore throat. It is a common problem that we encounter when we have severe cold. It may not be a serious health issue but it causes constant pain and irritation in throat that often makes swallowing difficult. Take a glass of lukewarm water, add one tablespoon of honey and one-fourth teaspoon of cinnamon powder into it and drink the mixture. This will have a soothing effect on the scratchy throat and will provide relief from other accompanying symptoms like cough and blocked sinuses as well.
Dental Problems
These two components can be used for dental care. In the morning, after brushing your teeth, rinse your mouth with a solution made of one teaspoon each of honey and cinnamon in a cup of water. This will control unwanted growth of bacteria inside the mouth and will keep your breath fresh throughout the day. This is an excellent remedy for bad breath. An annoying toothache can be stopped by applying a paste made of 5 teaspoons of honey and one teaspoon of finely grounded cinnamon powder. You can see its effect within 15 minutes. However, you must continue to use it 3 times in a day until the pain subsides completely.
