The dosage should be adjusted according to the amount that is prescribed for adults. It must be in 1/3 proportion with that of the adult dosage. The extract should never be given to children below 2 years of age. For adults, it is generally recommended that daily consumption should not exceed over 4 gm. So, always take 75 mg to 2000 mg in divided doses with food and other ginger supplements.
The extract has been traditionally used to cure many medical conditions in order to strengthen the body. However, as it is with other herbal medicines, ginger root also has its own set of side effects. But, the good thing is that they are very few and are avoidable. The extract taken in excessive amount may trigger several side effects, such as heartburn, mouth irritation, and diarrhea. People suffering from gallstones, bleeding disorders, or those, who are taking blood thinning supplements must consult their health care provider before consuming this extract.
