Neem oil is currently available under various brand names. The concentration of neem extract in these products varies significantly. The concentration is largely dependent upon the intended use. For instance, you won't find the concentration of cosmetic quality neem oil equal to insect repellent neem oil.
There are no fixed guidelines regarding its concentration in cosmetic products. If you are using diluted neem oil as insecticide, then make sure that the concentration of neem extract is at least 70%.
The label of the product should show neem as a main ingredient right at top, and not as a filler at bottom. When you intend to buy neem oil soap, make sure the neem used is cosmetic quality only.
You can buy neem oil from any Home Depot outlet in your locality. At Home Depot, it is available under the brand name Green Light. Buy a concentrated neem oil bottle from any of the above mentioned sources. Also buy a spray bottle with a cap. In one gallon of warm water, mix 1 to 2 tsp of liquid soap. Stir the solution well. Add 1 ounce of neem oil to the solution and mix it well. Store it in a cool and shady place.
Remember, the solution loses its effectiveness when stored for more than 8 hours. Always mix only as much of solution as you need immediately. Fill the solution in spray bottle and spray it on the roots and leaves. Leaves should be sprayed on both the sides.
