The colloidal silver dietary supplement is promoted as an effective cure for many ailments and diseases; however, not much has been documented and proved about its effectiveness. Silver as an element is required in very small quantities by the body, and therefore, colloidal silver is considered beneficial. However, prolonged and excess consumption can lead to many side effects. In an attempt to counter these side effects, the U.S. National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine has issued a warning against its use. It has stated that the effectiveness of this medicine is not supported, and thus the user may experience some side effects. Therefore, though the promotional advertisements might be tempting, it is advisable that you take this medicine only after consulting a qualified doctor, who can advise you on the prescription for your body type and ailment.
